Since 2017

The why.

This site was created in dedication to all men who served with the 26th infantry division during the second world war. Although the division is not widely known, the division has 210 days of combat and fought in most major campaigns. The division deserves a foundation to preserve the legacy which was built during the war and is pretty much forgotten nowadays.

About me

Welcome to the 26th Division Chronicles website.

It all started when I was 14 years old back in 2017 when during a family vacation I stumbled upon the well known Schumann’s Eck crossroad. While walking through the forest I found shrapnell and shellcasings laying on the surface which fascinated me as a kid. It evolved in going on expeditions to retrace the steps of the men that fought at the crossroads which turned out to be the 26th infantry division. Over the years my interest grew more and so did my resources and knowledge of the division.

I am currently 23 years old and nearing the 10 year mark of being a 26th infantry division historian. Over the past years I have been fortunate enough to find forgotten stories and share them with family members of veterans or the veterans themselves. We also specialize in Battlefields recovery. Researching and confirming the stories in the field by locating named items from service members that were killed. This all comes down to very precise research and a lot of knowledge and experience. We are also assisting the DPAA in finding the missing in action service members of the division by our archives and experience. We also have a Physical collection dedicated to preserve the history of the division by tangible objects. The collection consists of objects recovered by us on the battlefield and objects that were given to us by family members or simply just bought up at auctions.

I hope this website will educate and inspire others to recognize the sacrifices made to preserve our freedom and especially the sacrifices made by the men of the 26th infantry division. I also hope it will provide access to resources that help people discover and understand their own family's role during the war.
